Granny and Auntie Marg come to visit!

After waiting ever so patiently, Granny (Jeff's Mom, Lorna) and Auntie Marg made the trek down from Winnipeg to visit Miss Savannah. We all had a great visit, but the time went by way too fast. Here are some of the highlights!

Jan and Julian visit Savannah (and Karen and Jeff)

It was so great having Jan and Julian here!! Julian was so great with Savannah.....a number of times we would be hanging out and he would look at Savannah and say in his little man voice "She is soooo cute!", or smell her head and say "She smells sooo good", or bad depending on the day!

Our travels to Savannah, Ga.

The 4 hour drive to Savannah took us about 8. Partly because Savannah cried most of the way, but mostly because we stopped at the outlet mall and then for supper. East of Savannah about 20 miles is a little island called Tybee island with a great beach, pier, and lots of wind! The walkways fron the street to the beach were drifted in with sand above the hand rail...it reminded me of walking on the drifts back home in the winter only I was in barefeet and there were bits of seashells in there as well. Who ever thought you would have to shovel sand???

Here we are on the pier....Jan, Julian, Karen, and Savannah bundled up in the sling.

Sooooooooo windy.....nice hair!

Julian's first trip to the ocean....he thought is was ok at the beach until Jan took him to walk in the water a bit.....he wasn't so happy after that. If I recall correctly it was about 15 C but with a heck of a wind. I was glad we brought our fleece sweaters.

Savannah's first trip to the beach. No suntanning here! Only sleeping (suprise suprise!!)

On the riverfront in Savannah there is a number of souvinier shops, restraunts, pubs, candy shops, and local history things. Here we are in front of a model of the S.S. Savannah. So nice that a boat was named after our little girl!

Jan and Julian infront of the paddle wheeler "Savannah River Queen", it takes tourists on tours up the river.

Part of a magnolia tree and it's blooms, the blooms are about the size of two fists put together!

North Georgia adventures

Jan and I decided that we would spend a day in North Georgia.....it began with a quick trip to the outlet mall in Dawsonville. For those of you that have been there you know it can take all day to go from store to store. Jan and I covered the whole mall and were there less than 2 hours. We did go into a few stores (quickly), but mostly just walked by. Julian even had time to play at the playground for a bit. Sorry, no photos of the mall. We then headed north west into the "Georgia Mountains". As you see below these are green mountains that pale in comparison to the Rockies back home, but none the less they are our Georgia Mountains and they have provided Jeff and I (and other various friends and family) many hours of great hiking and sight seeing.

Jan, Julian, Savannah and I arrived at Amicalola and did the short walk (up the paved trail) and then the 175 stairs to snap the photo above.

We then decided to hang out, feed the kids, change a few diapers, catch some sun and visit. Thank you Jan and Julian for such a beautiful day.

American Adventures.......wahoooo!!!

We had planned earlier in the week to take Julian to American Adventures on the weekend. When Sunday morning came it was pouring rain.....disappointed, we procrastinated long enough deciding what to do with the day that it dried up and the sun came out! We called the Wilsons (Erik, Katie and Eden) and they joined us for the day. The kids had a blast......and so did the adults! Because of the earlier rain it was just the right temperature, and very quiet so we did noth have to wait in line. This is quite the amusement park. It is geared towards kids size 36 to 60 inches.....so it has most of the rides you would find at the Ex, only smaller and slower, having said that though some of us still felt a little woozey after some of the rides!

Julian and his new friend Eden...they are so cute together!!!
Julian was quick to grab Eden's hand to show her the way to the rides.

Dvining the big rig!

There was also a building that housed "the foam factory". It has slides, climbing structures, and obstacle courses.....I think that Jeff and Erik had as much or more fun than Julian and Eden.

Erik, Eden, and Julian.

Katie, Eden, and Julian

Who says you need a lisence to fly?

This was Julian's favourite ride. Given the chance he would have gone in each coloured baloon!

Julian needed an adult on the rollercoaster with him.....Mom did her duty and then it was Auntie Karen's turn.....he has a stronger stomach than both of us put together.

Savannah also enjoyed herself.......she spent most of the day sleeping in the sling.

Well we had a great day.....can't wait to do it again sometime soon.
Thankyou Katie, Erik and Eden for joining us.......a day we will never forget!

On The Road AGAIN!!!!!

Jan and I packed up the kids once again and headed East up I-85 to visit with Christie and Jonathan in Clemson, South Carolina. The two hour drive went by quickly as it was much quieter than some of our previous adventures!

Julian was a great help in the backseat with Savannah, although I think sometimes he wished he had earplugs.

Christie, Jonathan, Julian and Savannah all hanging out on the couch.

We took Christie and Jonathan's dogs (Sydney and Parker) for a walk to the botanical gardens. Julian picked some pretty flowers for his mom......he's so sweet.

We sat by the pond for a while watching the ducks and coy swim around.

And took a break on the swing.

Much needed sleep after a long but fun day! A big thank you to Christie and Jonathan for their hospatality.
